Dear families and friends,
Thank you all, many of you have travelled long distance, across the country to give your blessings to this beautiful marriage of Ginnie and Mitch. Your friendship and love will be forever cherished.
Children have grown up. Time flies.
I remember vividly a day after Fanning and Ginnie were born, our friends from our church, Li, Aiyu and her husband, Zhang, WeiGuo brought two baby carriers, which looked like grocery shopping baskets, to the Hospital, to take Fanning and Ginnie home. They were so exuberating, and kept screaming “So wonderful! twin babies!” Li, Aiyu and her husband fought, they fought for holding and carrying our babies. On our way out, my wife, me and Edward could only follow after behind them. It was dark outside before dawn, the triumphant cheers echoed in the airl over the whole parking lot. This optic of my friends’ genuine happiness is just unforgettable. I am bringing this memory up, because I want my children to understand my gratitude, I want my children to understand that, from the moment when you were born, you have received countless helps and cares with loves poured in from not only from your mother, your family, but also your uncles and aunts, friends, many of them are not able to be present with us at today’s wedding. However, I want my children have a reflection on the loves you have received, and we ask ourselves a question: What should I do in response?”
Children have grown up.
After the two year service of Peace Corps, in 2019, Ginnie brought a white boy from Benin, Africa, to my home of Florid, declared “I have a boyfriend now, his name is Mitchell.” Ok, then, like every parents, observation began. The questions to ask were those like that was Mitch was a kind person? Educated? Any plan or goal for the years ahead ? was cultural difference a problem ?—-etc. Years have passed since, our Lin family could not be happier to have Mitch joining us. We share the same family value; we have same faith, senses of social responsibility, personal integrity. Mitch possesses many great personal qualities which I wish to have for my own. Culture difference? Mitch can use chopsticks if not better, at least equally well as us. In preparing Christmas dinner, you heard that, as Mitch’s mom, Jeanette made commends, “ Mitchel, can you crash some garlic for me?” “ Yes, Mom, how many ?” or “Darret, can you check the oven temperature for me please” “ Yes, Mom”. What a beautiful conversations! The harmony of the family is so sweet.
In Career-wise, many times I have watched Mitch passionately exchanging his opinions on clinical cases of his patients with Ginnie’s twin sister Fanning, her brother Edward, sister – in law Melissa. These discussions took place after dinners while sipping their whiskey, during driving on a road trip , or in the family hot tub, You observe this and you would know ,that, I would have been dumb beyond repair if I did not think this is a perfect fit. Ginnie complained that I loved Mitch more than I loved her. But what is the measurement for that? I do have a little concern, which is the vegan diet. I do not believe vegan diet providing enough proteins for our need.
Regarding my comments on my daughters, my children are all great. “You and your wife have done a good job of raising your daughters”, I received this comment from their uncles, aunts, job supervisors and church mentors. However, according to Confucius, it is not humble, and not advisable for a father to brag about his children in front of public. Therefore, I will skip this part.
All in all, I would like to thank Jeannette and Mr. Kramer, you have brought up a wonderful son, now a wonderful son in-law for me and Guangling.
Mitch and Ginnie, I would like taking this opportunity to share some my perspectives of life with you. In the movie “Forrest Gum”’ Forrest’s mama told Forrest “Life is like a box of Chocolate, you don’t know what you are going to get.” According this version on life journey, Mitch would be a piece of chocolate in a box, Ginnie got you luckily, and likewise, Mitch luckily got Ginnie from a chocolate box as well. My version is a little different. Life is more like violin concerto. There are moments of sublime, comforting, soul-lifting passages, which are the times when everything occurs just as you want. Yet, these moments are usually alternated with moments of rumbling turbulence, chaos. Those are the times when you have to face difficulties, frustrations, stresses or disappointments. In any case, let us always remember what have been taught in the Bible, embracing your beautiful future!

* * My daughters’ beloved uncle Jerry was not able to attend her wedding due to medical conditions, even though Jerry had been looking forwards to this wedding. Now, less than 2 weeks, we had been notified to bid adieu to my brother-in law, and my dearest friend, Jerry Lyman. Jerry, we were thinking of you throughout the wedding proceeding, we wished you were with us for this day so much. Jerry, we love you. — 25th, June, 2026
